Dehydration: Dehydration is again one of the most common causes of dark circles under the eyes. When the body is not receiving the appropriate amount of water, the skin underneath your eyes begins to look pale, darken and your eyes look sunken. This is due to the close proximity to the underlying bone of the skull.
Sun overexposure: Overexposure to the sun also causes the body to produce an excess of melanin, the pigment which provides the human skin with color. Too much sun, particularly for your eyes cause pigmentation in the surrounding skin areas to darken.
Genetics: Your Family history also plays a part in the process of developing dark circles under the eyes. This inherited trait can be seen as early as in childhood, and the situation may worsen as you age. Tendencies to other medical conditions like thyroid disease can also result in the formation of dark circles beneath the eyes.
The makeup could be the irritating one: It seems contradictory that makeup which is supposed to cover up those dark circles can be causing it too. If you’re using a beauty product, whether it’s a mascara, eyeshadow, or even eye concealer, their ingredients can bug your skin, it could be leading to worsened dark circles. Reports say some people develop allergic reactions post-makeup. They get dark circles from the irritation, rubbing, and scratching.
